The state savings & loans are chartered, regulated, supervised, and examined by DFI.  The federal saving & loans and out-of-state federal savings & loans with Utah branches are chartered, regulated, supervised, and examined by the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS).

Deposits of savings & loans operating within the state are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).
