The Department of Financial Institutions (DFI)
regulates 31 banks, 52 credit unions, 26 industrial banks and two trust companies.
There are also 9 national banks, 6 out-of-state state bank, 49 federal credit unions,
and 7 federal savings & loan, operating within the state.
As of June 30, 2009 Utah depository institutions had combined total
assets of 396.4 billion dollars. Of that total, 158.6 billion were in
banks, 15.0 billion were in credit unions, 174.1 billion were in industrial
banks and 48.7 billion were in
savings & loan associations.
